General Purpose Polystyrene (GPPS) and Properties
General purpose polystyrene (GPPs) is a crystalline polystyrene, designed for molding, spraying and injection processes and it easily flows. In pressing or molding processes, the pressed output can be mixed with the highly active polystyrene for improving the time cycle of heating.
General purpose polystyrene has a very effective flow characteristic so that it combines a much higher softening point in comparison with the normal grade. It can be applied to many areas since it is fully transparent. General purpose polystyrene can be easily shaped. High rigidity and low draw ratio make it suitable to be used in the food industry. It is highly resistant to impacts and that is why it is remarkably demanded. Since the general purpose polystyrene is inexpensive, it provides a real economic advantage and it also ensures a high insulation level.
With a high tensile strength, this material can be used in many areas. The crystal structure of the material enables a good mixture. It is designed to fit both thin and medium thick materials with easily flowing characteristics. The light transmittance and stability of shape of the general purpose polystrene are at the ideal level while it provides a real advantage for molding with the injection method and heat forming processes.
